(April 17, 2026) – This report is designed as a tool for hospitals to review what passed during the 2026 legislative session, and to know what will carry over when the legislature returns on Jan. 11, 2027, following elections for statewide elected offices, as well as those serving in the Kansas House of Representatives.

(April 10, 2026) – Today, the Kansas Legislature returned for day two of what is expected to be a quick veto session.
(April 9, 2026) – Today, the Kansas Legislature returned to Topeka for the final days of the 2026 legislative session. Policymakers returned to focus on items that Governor Laura Kelly vetoed since they last met on March 27.
(April 9, 2026) – Today, leaders in the House and Senate replaced members of the Tax Conference Committee to directly negotiate tax proposals. The conference committee, composed of House members Dan Hawkins, Chris Croft and Tom Sawyer and Senators Ty Masterson, Chase Blasi and Ethan Corson, met to establish new tax proposals.

(March 27, 2026) – After midnight, the House and Senate voted to pass CCR on HB 2513, the budget for fiscal years 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029 and 2030.
(March 27, 2026) – Late yesterday, Governor Laura Kelly vetoed SB 368. The legislation enacts the Health Care Sharing Ministries Tax Deduction Act to provide a subtraction modification for qualified health care sharing expenses paid by a qualified individual and certain qualified health care shares received by a qualified individual.
(March 27, 2026) – Health-related bill bundles have been making their way through the House and Senate, as they head toward what is known as the first adjournment, where the legislature will return home to their districts until the veto session, scheduled for April 9. The health-related bills are listed here.
(March 26, 2026) – Today, the conference committee reports for the health-related bills were taken up in both the House and the Senate.
