The Kansas Health Service Corporation was founded in November 1984 for the purpose of providing needed products and services to Kansas Hospital Association member hospitals. KHSC's primary objective is to partner with organizations that can provide quality products and services to Kansas health care institutions at a reasonable price. KHSC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of KHA. Therefore, a secondary objective of KHSC is to support KHA in meeting its mission to serve hospitals.
MISSION:To provide enhanced value to KHA members through evaluation and endorsement of selected vendors of services needed by the KHA membership.
VISION:KHSC will be a valuable resource to Kansas health care facilities and the Kansas Hospital Association as they serve their constituents.
KHSC staff members and multiple partnering organizations are ready to assist you.
Hospitals will be required to meet new CMS Price Transparency mandates beginning Jan. 1, 2021. KHSC has partnered with PARA to assist hospitals in meeting these requirements. Additionally, KHSC has negotiated savings opportunities based upon the number of hospitals that utilize PARA's services.

Hospitals typically have a process to assess potential payment options from their patients, including reviewing Medicaid eligibility. However, some collection opportunties can still fall through the cracks. This is where the unique data analysis tools of Altruis, with their RetroPay system, can help. Altruis has proven they can find additional revenue in all sizes of hospitals, even those with a fairly strong billing department.
Altruis presented their program on a webinar (view here use the passcode 1L?C9&Q9).
While most health insurance plans have a basic level of ambulance and air ambulance coverage, many of the plans fall short in covering the full cost. Most air transport companies are not contracting providers for your insurance network. Due to airline de-regulation, these companies are not limited on what they charge for flights. This can leave your employees receiving a balance-bill for $15,000 to $45,ooo for one helicopter transport. Watch this ABC News story about the problem.
MASA Medical Transport Solutions has an answer to this problem. Through their membership program, they have benefits, including a plan that provides a zero-balance bill for any and all emergency transportation services in the United States and Canada. There are other medical transport membership programs in Kansas. However, those only cover transportation on their aircraft. MASA is different as it covers the cost no matter which flight company you use.
There are three benefit levels for your staff to choose to match with their lifestyle. This can be an employer-paid, cost-shared or employee-paid benefit.
