Respected Local Dedicates Years of Service to Community

Christie Strahm (Aug. 18, 2023) – The Kansas Hospital Association's Health Care Worker of the Year Award highlights hospital employees who have made a significant contribution to the betterment of their hospital. These individuals are nominated for this award because they routinely go above and beyond the call of duty.

Christie Strahm always gives 110 percent to Sabetha Community Hospital. As director of surgical services, Strahm shows exemplary leadership skills, ensuring the surgery department runs smoothly. She consistently demonstrates effective communication skills, impressive critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Strahm constantly strives for what is best, not only for the surgery team, but also for the organization and community. She helps recruit staff, shape new services and improve processes. Patients are a priority for Strahm. As a working manager, she provides patient care on a daily basis. Whether it is over the phone or in person, her respect, empathy and care for each patient shines. Strahm clearly communicates with patients, ensuring they understand the procedure or post-procedure education. Strahm wants patients to get quality care in their community.

Strahm is a homegrown nurse giving back to her community, and her loyalty to Sabetha Community Hospital is evident. During the past 26 years, she has been involved in many hospital events and activities allowing her to build trust and develop strong relationships with her coworkers. It is evident Strahm's coworkers look up to and respect her, just as she respects them.

Strahm will be recognized, along with other Health Care Worker of the Year nominees, during the KHA Awards Luncheon at the 2023 KHA Annual Convention, Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Hyatt Regency Wichita/Century II Convention Center in Wichita.
