Senate Ways and Means Subcommittee Meets to Discuss Mental Health and IDD
Osawatomie State Hospital (Feb. 1, 2024) – Today the Senate Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Services received updates on the budgets for State Mental Health Hospitals and the Intellectual Disability Institutions. The committee, chaired by Senator Carolyn McGinn (R-Sedgwick), heard from Kansas Legislative Research Staff on the governor's budget recommendations, as well as from the agency on state hospitals. The committee heard updates on each state hospital and facility's availability, staffing numbers and wait times. The committee will meet again next week to deliberate.
