Senate Public Health and Welfare Begins Hearings on Bills

Dentist (Feb. 8, 2023) – Today, the Committee on Senate Public Health and Welfare, chaired by Senator Beverly Gossage (R-Eudora), held a hearing on Senate Bill 103. The legislation updates certain provisions of the Kansas Dental Practices Act relating to dentist information requested by patients, in-person practice requirements in the dental office using the licensee's name, unprofessional conduct and patient complaints. The committee heard from the following proponent conferees:

  • Former Kansas State Rep. Mike O'Neal (R-Hutchinson), representing the Association of Dental Support Organizations
  • Heath Hall, Heartland Dental
  • Kevin Robertson, Kansas Dental Association

The committee also received written proponent testimony from Daniel Thomas, DDS, MS, a periodontist. The committee chair mentioned final action on this legislation will occur next week. The committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday, Feb. 9.
