Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Recommends Bills

HealthInsurance (Feb. 21, 2023) – Senate Bill 119 updates certain obsolete references in chapter 40 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated

Senate Bill 104 allows a surcharge when purchases are made with a credit or debit card. The committee amended to state if a service fee is passed to a consumer, it must be posted online and in-person, as well as to set out parameters

Senate Bill 24 changes the required number of employees contained in the definitions of "large employer" and "small employer" for purposes of coverage for autism spectrum disorder.

Senate Bill 27 authorizes the commissioner to set the amount of certain fees

Senate Bill 28, discontinues payments to certain group-funded insurance pools; refunds existing balances thereof and abolishes such funds; and establishes the Group-Funded Pools Refund Fund

These bills now will be discussed by the full Senate.

Senate Bill 62 enacts the Protect Vulnerable Adults from Financial Exploitation Act, requires reporting of instances of suspected financial exploitation under certain circumstances and provides civil and administrative immunity to individuals who make such reports.

The bill wasn't worked by the committee. The chair indicated they may try to continue work on it after the turnaround deadline.
