Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee Hears Autism Coverage Bill

Position Available (Feb. 20, 2023) – Today, the Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, chaired by Senator Michael Fagg (R-El Dorado), held a hearing on Senate Bill 24. The legislation changes the required number of employees contained in the definition of "large employer" and "small employer" for purposes of coverage for autism spectrum disorder. Eric Turek, Kansas Insurance Department, appeared before the committee as a proponent.

The committee also held a hearing on Senate Bill 119. The legislation updates certain obsolete statutory references in chapter 40 of Kansas Statutes Annotated.

The committee is scheduled to meet again Tuesday, Feb. 21, to work bills previously heard.
