Legal (April 3, 2023) – Today, the Kansas House made motions to concur with changes to the following bills:

Senate Substitute for House Bill 201 enacts abusive access litigation that alleges any access violation under the Americans with Disabilities Act or similar law constitutes abusive litigation and authorizes penalties for such abusive litigation. The motion passed on a vote of 83-37. The bill now goes to the governor.

House bill 2127 permits the prosecution for childhood sexual abuse to commence at any time; extends the time to file civil actions against a perpetrator for damages caused by childhood sexual abuse; and provides exceptions in the Kansas Tort Claims Act for claims arising from such abuse. The motion passed 120-0. The bill now goes to the governor.

House bill 2323 provides for the detachment and transfer of fire district property annexed by a city. The motion passed 117-3. The bill now goes to the governor.

House Bill 2053 provides for a presidential preference primary election on March 19, 2024, and establishes voter registration and voting procedures for such an election. The motion failed on a vote of 56-64.
