House Local Government Works Hospital Board Bill

District Meeting (March 13, 2023) – Today, the House Local Government Committee, chaired by Representative Emil Bergquist (R-Park City), worked Senate Bill 194. The legislation changes requirements of hospital board members to include qualified electors from an adjacent county if approved by the board of commissioners of the county, if the majority of the board is from the county proper, and if real property is owned by the board member of an adjacent county within the taxing district in which they serve on the hospital board.

The committee asked if this applies to city hospitals, and the committee revisor clarified it would not.

The committee recommended the bill favorably for passage, and it now goes to the House floor. The bill previously passed the Senate on a vote of 38-2.
