House Insurance Committee Holds Hearings Sees Prior Authorization Bill Introduction

Prior Authorization (Jan. 30, 2023) – Today, the House Insurance Committee, chaired by Representative Bill Sutton (R-Gardner), saw bill introductions, including one bill designed to address prior authorization, introduced by the Kansas Hospital Association. The committee also held a hearing on the following:

House Bill 2100 – Relating to risk-based capital requirements; updating the version of instructions in effect.

House Bill 2096 – Relating to the premium tax, adjusting based upon which premium tax calculations are made.

House Bill 2089 – Relating to prepaid insurance plans, certificates of registration, discontinuing annual registration fees for such plans, and modifying the report of individuals who solicit memberships from semi-annual to annually.

The committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, Feb. 1 for additional bill hearings.
