House Health and Human Services Hears from Alzheimer’s Association

Alzheimers (Jan. 31, 2023) – Today, the House Health and Human Services Committee, chaired by Representative John Eplee (R-Atchison), heard a presentation from the Alzheimer’s Association. Jamie Gideon, Kansas public policy director, gave an overview of the impacts of Alzheimer’s and shared they will need a more than 500 percent increase in care workers over the coming years to address the need. The conferee highlighted a state plan needs assessment completed by the task force in January 2020. The organization highlighted they are supporting House Bill 2246, creating the right to an appeal from an adult care home facility. The second policy supported creates a dementia services coordinator.

The committee will meet Wednesday, Feb. 1, to hear a presentation by Do No Harm and the Kansas Optometric Association.
