(Feb. 1, 2023) – The House Child Welfare and Foster Care has recommended favorably for passage as amended House Bill 2024. The legislation allows the surrender of physical custody of an infant to an infant refuge bassinet. The bill requires a device be installed to an infant refuge bassinet with an alarm system connected to the location where the bassinet is located in a facility The legislation applies to medical care facilities. The alarm system must be tested at least once per week and visually checked at least twice daily.
The bill now goes to the full House for further review.
