Committee Hears Budgets

Budget Plan (Feb. 1, 2023) – Today, the Senate Transparency and Ethics Committee, chaired by Senator Elaine Bowers (R-Concordia), reviewed several agency budgets. The committee first heard from Susan Giles, director of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts. The committee made no changes and recommended the budget favorable for passage as proposed.

Kansas State Board of Nursing Executive Administrator Carol Moreland appeared before the committee to discuss the need to update systems to allow mobile access and generate customized data reports as an enhancement to their budget in two phases in the upcoming years. The committee asked why mental health technicians' licensing fees are higher than advanced practitioner nurses.

Executive Director Alexandra Blasi presented the Kansas Board of Pharmacy budget. The committee recommended the agency budget for passage as presented.

The Behavioral Services Regulatory Board, and Kansas State Board of Healing Arts budgets also were presented today to the House Higher Education and Budget Committee.
