2024 Legislative Changes

HouseChamber (Dec. 13, 2023) – Since the end of the 2023 legislative session, a few new faces have been added to the state legislature.

First, Representative Fred Patton (R-Topeka), who previously chaired the House Judiciary Committee, has left the legislature and been replaced by incoming Rep. Kyle McNorton. Rep. Norton will serve as the District 50 state representative in addition to his appointments on the following committees: K-12 Education Budget, Education, and Federal and State Affairs.

In 2023, Rep. Brad Boyd (D-Olathe) was elected to serve the 49th District and has since announced his resignation. The party has announced a meeting to fill the vacancy on Dec. 18.
