(Sept. 15, 2023) – Health care staff face significant risks when it comes to workplace violence. Many factors contribute to these risks including working directly with those who have a history of violent behavior, behavioral health issues or are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The rate of serious workplace violence incidents is more than five times greater in health care settings than in private industry, according to the General Accounting Office's 2016 report.
