Curiosity in Care: Building Trust and Supporting Patients with Substance Use Disorder – Webinar Recording Available
(Jan. 23, 2025) – The recording of the Curiosity in Care: Building Trust and Supporting Patients with Substance Use Disorder webinar is now available. Hosted last week by the KU School of Medicine-Wichita, the webinar offered practical insights for physicians, advanced practice providers and other clinicians on communicating with curiosity and without judgment and setting realistic expectations for engaging with patients with substance use disorder.
The webinar also emphasized the importance of screening, brief intervention and referral to SUD care. The webinar is part of the Be the Light learning collaborative, led by KU School of Medicine-Wichita, with the Kansas Hospital Association, DCCCA and the Kansas Board of Pharmacy / K-TRACS as partners. Be the Light is funded by a grant approved and awarded by the Kansas Fights Addiction Grant Review Board, with grant administration support from the Sunflower Foundation: Health Care for Kansans. In addition to recorded webinars, the Preparing Physicians to Treat Addiction webpage offers other tools for providers, including medically appropriate language, SBIRT tools and an SUD resources guide.
