(April 28, 2023) – For Medicaid beneficiaries who were in the first round of redeterminations for April 2023, who did not return their applications by the due date, they received a discontinuation letter last week with a termination date of May 1, 2023. The Medicaid call center has been inundated with phone calls and beneficiaries have experienced long wait delays. If KHA members receive questions from beneficiaries, please inform beneficiaries that they should still return their Medicaid application as soon as possible. Although termination will occur in the system on May 1, 2023, if the application is received within 90 days of the termination date and the application is approved, their eligibility will be turned back on and backdated to their termination date. Please make sure beneficiaries know that the application must be received by KanCare by the date in the redetermination letter, not just postmarked by the date.
