(Jan. 18, 2023) – Today, the House Health and Human Services, chaired by Representative Brenda Landwehr (R-Wichita), received an overview of the Kansas Community Mental System. The committee heard from Kyle Kessler, executive director of the Association of Community Mental Health Centers of Kansas, Inc. Kessler presented a membership update. The committee heard about the implementation of certified community behavioral health clinics.

The committee also heard from member organizations and associate partners about how to address mental health needs in community and school settings.

The committee will meet again Thursday, Jan. 19, to receive presentations from the Kansas Medical Society and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
