Senate Public Health and House Federal and State Affairs Takes up Vaccine Legislation

Vaccine (April 6, 2023) – Today, the Senate Public Health Conference Committee conferees met with the House Federal and State Affairs Committee to discuss vaccination legislation, among other items. The committee agreed to add the contents of the following in with the contents of House Bill 2390.

Senate Bill 314 prohibits the secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment from requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for children attending a childcare facility or school.

Senate Bill 315 – the Senate agreed to remove the language dictating that meningitis vaccinations wouldn’t be a requirement for living in student housing. That provision is no longer part of the legislation.

The committee agreed to insert the contents of Senate Bill 233 into the now-empty Senate Bill 26. The conference committee will need to run in both chambers.
