President's Perspective – Federal Advocacy Efforts
Last week, I traveled to Washington, DC, and made the rounds on Capitol Hill with different Kansas hospital executives. The conversations we had were enlightening, especially considering the tense, hurry-up-and-wait atmosphere regarding health care policy.

Kansas Healthcare Collaborative Update
After thoughtful and careful consideration, the KHC Board has made the difficult decision to initiate a significant operational transition effective Oct. 3, 2025. We recognize the significant impact KHC has made across Kansas health care organizations, but even in strong financial years, sustaining an organization primarily funded through grants is challenging.

CMS Clarification on Non-Medicare Swing Beds for Critical Access Hospitals – Oct. 1

Kansas Society for Healthcare Central Service Professionals Seminar – Oct. 18
KSHCSP's educational workshop is at Mosier Hall, Kansas State University in Manhattan. Registration includes breakfast and lunch and 2026 membership fees. CE hours will be available and presented at the end of the day.

KU School of Nursing Partners with McPherson College to Increase Nursing Graduates
The University of Kansas School of Nursing and McPherson College announced plans for McPherson College students to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from KU, beginning in the 2026-27 academic year.

KPQC Launches Blood Pressure Cuff Project for KanCare Patients
The Kansas Perinatal Quality Collaborative launched a Cuff Project statewide for KanCare patients. The initiative provides self-monitoring blood pressure devices for KanCare patients.
