President's Perspective – Virtual Career Fair to Highlight In-Demand Jobs in Health Care

Career Fair   (Feb. 24, 2023) – Last week, the Kansas Chamber, Kansas Hospital Association and Kansas State Department of Education announced an upcoming partnership in hosting a Virtual Health Care Career Day on Wednesday, April 19. The event will inform students about what it takes to become a health care professional and connect them with employers.

The virtual career day will take students "inside" Kansas hospitals for a first-hand look into what it is really like to be a health care professional. They will watch career-focused videos featuring those who provide care to patients. A question-and-answer session also will engage students in real world learning.

There is no costs for students and schools to register for the career fair. It is open to all grade levels.

The agenda for the Virtual Health Care Career Day highlights a variety of career fields. Thanks to the following hospitals for highlighting specific careers during the virtual career day:

  • Labette Health
  • Ascension Via Christi
  • HaysMed
  • Smith County Memorial Hospital
  • Nemaha Valley Community Hospital
  • Southwest Medical Center
  • Saint Luke's Health System
  • The University of Kansas Health System

We are excited to highlight such a broad range of health care careers. There are so many great careers in health care, each one making a difference. Health care is one of the most respected, exciting, rewarding and fulfilling careers one can join. In addition, we all know there's never been a better time than now to choose a career in health care.

KHA staff have created a list of ideas to help members engage with their local high school on April 19, during the career fair.

This statewide, virtual event also offers hospitals and other health care providers, as well as state universities and tech colleges the opportunity to raise their brand awareness among the thousands of students, educators and career counselors expected to attend.
