Behavioral Health in a Primary Care Setting

Nearly one in five U.S. adults has a behavioral health disorder. Studies confirm what clinicians know from experience: patients with behavioral health diagnoses have higher rates of co-occurring chronic conditions, including asthma, diabetes and hypertension, which can complicate their care and affect their lifespan and the quality of their lives. Integrating traditional primary medical and behavioral health care has been demonstrated to promote more accessible and equitable treatment for these complex patients, but how do you make it work in an environment of increasing needs and growing workforce challenges?

Presented by Kari M. Bruffett, president and CEO of the Kansas Health Institute, and Eric Thomason, PMHNP, vice president, Behavioral Health and Addiction Treatment for Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas.
