Important Changes Coming to KanCare Eligibility

KanCare (March 17, 2023) – Many individuals who have health coverage through Kansas Medicaid (KanCare) or the Children's Health Insurance Program may need to update their contact information. Soon, Kansas will resume KanCare and CHIP eligibility reviews. This means some people with KanCare or CHIP may get renewal notices or requests for information from the KanCare Clearinghouse.

Here are some things providers can do to help:

  • Verify patients have checked that their address is up to date.
  • Make sure the KanCare Clearinghouse has a current mailing address, phone number, email or other contact information. They can call (800) 792-4884 or go to KanCare.ks.gov to update the Clearinghouse if contact information has changed. This way, they'll get information about KanCare or CHIP coverage.
  • Remind patients to check their mail.

The KanCare Clearinghouse will mail a letter about KanCare or CHIP coverage. This letter will let individuals know if they need to complete a renewal form to see if they still qualify for KanCare or CHIP. If they get a renewal form, they need to fill it out and return it right away. This may help avoid any gaps in coverage.

For more information about KanCare or CHIP renewal, contact the KanCare Clearinghouse at (800) 792-4884 or visit KanCare.ks.gov. For details about Marketplace coverage, contact a Cover Kansas Navigator at (866) 826-8375 or at GetCoveredKansas.org.
