(July 28, 2023) – ESSDACK is hosting its annual Career Expo on Oct. 24-25, 2023, at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson. This expo is designed to showcase career opportunities for two- and four-year college degrees, industry certifications, apprenticeships, military opportunities and business partners. Advertised as the largest college and career planning event in Kansas, last year there were more than 5,000 students from 71 school districts across Kansas in attendance.
The focus of the expo is to make high school students aware of the career opportunities that exist post-graduation and the educational experience needed to attain their desired career. ESSDACK is passionate about keeping students in Kansas following graduation and is looking forward to having a greater representation of health care organizations this year.
ESSDACK is seeking interactive booths for employers to help high school students explore job opportunities and start creating connections between academics and future careers. While a regular career fair booth is acceptable to have for your hospital's setup, they encourage organizations to bring some sort of demonstration or interactive activity that will allow students to get an idea of specific job functions. These could include a mannequin drawing blood, medical equipment or even having members of your staff attend that are in existing positions of interest (i.e. having a respiratory therapist attend so they can explain to students exactly what a respiratory therapist does and how they became a RT).
