News (Dec. 15, 2023) – CMS Reminds Hospitals of Q3 2023 IQR, OQR Submission Deadlines
Hospitals participating in the Inpatient Quality Reporting and/or Outpatient Quality Reporting Programs are reminded of the following submission deadlines for third-quarter 2023 data (July 1 – Sept. 30, 2023, dates of service).

Wednesday, Jan. 3

  •  Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems patient perspective on care survey data

Thursday, Feb. 1

  • Inpatient population and sampling counts
  • Outpatient clinical data, and population and sampling counts

Thursday, Feb. 15

  • Inpatient clinical sepsis data and PC-01 data
  • HCP COVID-19 vaccination measure data into the National Healthcare Safety Network

CMS Releases Specifications Manual Addendum 5.15a
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued an addendum to the Specifications Manual for National Hospital Inpatient Quality Measures for acute discharges effective Jan. 1 through June 30, 2024. The addendum, version 5.15a, is available on QualityNet. Changes include updates related to the ICD-10 sepsis diagnosis codes and the removal of PC 01 references throughout the manual. Complete changes are outlined in the associated release notes.

CDC Issues Mpox Health Advisory
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a health advisory on a separate clade of Mpox not yet seen in the U.S. but now has spread in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This clade is caused by human-to-human transmission and has a 10 percent fatality rate. Diagnosis, testing and treatment options remain the same as the current clade of Mpox seen in the U.S.

  • Hospitals participating in the IQR and Medicare Promoting Interoperability Programs can access the CMS on-demand webinar, "Reviewing CY 2023 eCQM Reporting Resources," on the Quality Reporting Center.
  • The American Society of Addiction Medicine and the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry released a joint clinical practice guideline for the management of stimulant use disorder. The guideline focuses on three key areas: treatment of stimulant use disorders, intoxication and withdrawal and secondary and tertiary prevention.
