Perinatal Substance Use: Recognition, Reporting and Supporting – Virtual Training

Pregnant (April 4, 2025) – Free virtual training is available from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on April 10, entitled Perinatal Substance Use: Recognition, Reporting and Supporting. The training is a collaboration between the Kansas Children's Service League, the Kansas Department for Children and Families and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The training is intended to build provider capacity and knowledge in supporting perinatal families impacted by substance use. Presenters will provide an overview of Kansas-mandated reporting requirements related to the perinatal population and review risk factors for abuse and neglect in the perinatal period. The training will introduce a perinatal provider workflow focused on pregnant women using substances, intended to increase access to treatment and connection to community support services. Participants will learn from case examples and have the opportunity to ask questions of DCF and KDHE representatives.
