House and Senate Take Final Action on Bills

Kansas Statehouse (Feb. 15, 2023) – Today, the House of Representatives took final action on the following bills:

House Bill 2027 – Relates to probate code, persons arrested or charged with the felonious killing of the decedent; creating a procedure to prevent the distribution of assets until resolution of criminal proceedings. The bill passed on a vote of 119-0

House Bill 2125 – Concerns the Kansas State Board of Cosmetology, relates to powers, duties and function, provides for charitable event permits and demonstration permits to provide tattooing, cosmetic tattooing or body piercing services; authorizes cease and desist orders against unlicensed providers of tattooing or piercing; requires cards for three years instead of five. The bill passed on a vote of 114-5.

House Bill 2214 – Concerns the Kansas Department of Corrections, relates to facilities, changes the name of the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility to the Larned State Correctional Facility. This bill passed on a vote of 119-0

These bills will now go to the Senate for further review.

This afternoon, the Senate is slated to take final action votes on the following bills:

Senate Bill 73 – Relates to crimes involving property, burglary and aggravated burglary, adds domestic battery and violation of a protection order to the list of crimes a person has intent to commit

Senate Bill 106 – Relates to devices that are counterfeit supplemental restraint system components and nonfunctional airbags; creates the crime of knowingly or intentionally manufacturing, importing, distributing, selling, offering for sale, installing or reinstalling such devices and provides criminal penalties for violation

If these bills pass on final action, they will go to the House for further review.
