(Feb. 10, 2026) – Today, the Kansas House took a final votes on the following bills:
House Bill 2433 clarifies county authority over the transfer or appropriation of water by placing such authority, except for domestic use, with the chief engineer and Water Transfer Hearing Panel. The bill passed 116-6 and will now go to the Senate.
House Bill 2438 imposes restrictions on websites that accepts and transmits voter registration applications. The bill passed 86-36 and will now go to the Senate.
House Bill 2467 prohibits courts or the Division of Vehicles from considering past convictions or sanctions for failure to comply with a traffic citation that are more than five years old, and eliminates certain notice requirements for the Division of Vehicles related to suspended or restricted drivers' licenses. The bill passed 122-0 and will now go to the Senate.
House Bill 2542 designates a portion of United States Highway 56 as the Bill Tucker Memorial Highway. The bill passed 122-0 and will now go to the Senate.
SCR 1615 honors the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk and recognizes Oct. 14 as Charlie Kirk Free Speech Day. The legislation passed 87-35.
The House also debated the following bills:
House Bill 2466 extends the sunset for the Angel Investor Tax Credit to 2031. The bill was not amended and recommended favorably for a final vote.
House Bill 2487 defines "teacher" and "paraprofessional" for purposes of eligibility for a scholarship under the Kansas Education Opportunity Scholarship Program. The bill was not amended and was recommended favorably for a final vote.
House Bill 2243 requires the secretary of the Kansas Department of Children and Families to enter into a memorandum of understanding with military installations to refer children-in-need-of-care cases involving children of military personnel to a military family advocacy program. The bill was not amended and was recommended favorably for a final vote.
House Bill 2533 enacts the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact to provide interstate practice privileges for occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants. The bill was not amended and was recommended favorably for a final vote.
House Bill 2534 enacts the Respiratory Care Interstate Compact to provide interstate practice privileges for respiratory therapists. The bill was not amended and was recommended favorably for a final vote.
House Bill 2478 requires advanced practice registered nurses and registered nurse anesthetists to undergo a criminal history check when applying for a nursing license. The bill was not amended and was recommended favorably for a final vote.
The Senate is slated to debate the following bills:
Senate Bill 396 reorganizes the Clearwater Cemetery District in Sedgwick County by removing Ohio Township.
Senate Bill 364 requires the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to offer a discounted resident senior combination hunting and fishing license to residents of Kansas who are 65 years of age or older, increases the maximum age to qualify for the Kansas kids lifetime combination hunting and fishing license, decreases the maximum fee and removes the expiration of such license.
Senate Bill 358 requires individuals convicted of certain felonies to be held without bond in the county jail until they are sentenced.
Senate Bill 331 eliminates certain stipulations regarding the payment of negotiable instruments on Saturday afternoons or on holidays.
Senate Bill 367 authorizes cities to permit golf cart use on sidewalks.
Senate Bill 300 prohibits the Office of the State Bank Commissioner or any other state agency from serving as receiver for a technology-enabled fiduciary financial institution that becomes insolvent or declares bankruptcy.
