(Feb. 14, 2023) – Today, the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Representative Fred Patton (R-Topeka), amended
House Bill 2023, the protections for health care workers to include all health care clinics. The committee also saw an amendment from Representative Boog Highberger (D-Lawrence) to remove the increased penalties for battery against a health care worker. The amendment failed on a voice vote. The committee recommended the bill favorably as amended. It now goes to the full House of Representatives.
