(Feb. 3, 2026) – Today, the House Health Committee held a hearing on House Bill 2520, which increases the number of allowed residents in a home plus facility from 12 to 16. The committee heard proponent testimony from Home Plus facilities. Opposition testimony was provided by Haely Ordoyne of the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, and neutral testimony was provided by LeadingAge Kansas and the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services.
The committee also held a hearing on House Bill 2478, which requires advanced practice registered nurses and registered nurse anesthetists to undergo a criminal history check upon applying for a nursing license. The committee heard from one conferee, Carol Moreland of the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
The committee is scheduled to meet again tomorrow.
