House Final Action Votes

Gavel (Feb. 16, 2023) – Today, the House took final action votes on the following bills:

House Bill 2021 – Allows for overall case length limit extensions for certain juvenile offenders; requires the Kansas Department of Corrections to create juvenile justice data systems; increases use of evidence-based programs account money. Passed on a vote of 85-35.

House Bill 2060 – Relates to special education and related services and funding. Passed on a vote of 83-37.

House Bill 2234 – Increases the cost threshold for the mandatory convening of a negotiating committee by the Secretary of Administration or agency head and the selection of architectural, engineering or land surveying services from a list of qualified firms, provides such cost threshold be increased annually based on the percentage increase in the consumer price index. Passed on a vote of 116-4.

House Concurrent Resolution 5004 – Urges the U.S. Congress to fully fund the federal government's original funding promise under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Passed on a vote of 119-1.

House Bill 2100 – Updates the risk-based capital requirements. Passed on a vote of 121-0.

House Bill 2096 – Requires certain premium taxes to be paid 90 days after each calendar year and bases such premium taxes upon the gross premiums collected for the previous calendar year. Passed on a vote of 121-0.

House Bill 2093 – Relates to certain group-funded insurance pools and group-funded Workers' Compensation fee funds. Passed on a vote of 120-1.

House Bill 2314 – Relates to state-issued devices and networks; prohibits the use of social media platforms of concern on such devices and networks. Passed on a vote of 109-12.

House Bill 2262 – Relates to embalmer education; allows an apprenticeship to complete six months of training prior to enrolling in the school of mortuary science. Passed on a vote of 121-0.

These bills now go to the Senate for further review.
