(April 5, 2023) – Today, the Kansas House of Representatives voted to override the veto of House Bill 2238, the Fairness in Women's Sports Act requiring female student athletic teams only to include members who are biologically female. The House voted to override on a vote of 84-40. The Senate also took up the vote to override and passed on a vote of 28-12.
Also today, the Senate debated and adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution 1611, proposing to amend section one of article 11 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas to limit property tax valuation increase for real property. The motion passed on a vote of 28-11.
Both chambers will continue to run conference committee reports throughout the evening.
