Survey and Licensure Implications with Government Shutdown
CMS (Oct. 3, 2025) – The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released QSO-25-29-ALL to provide guidance to surveyors and communication to providers about how the current federal government shutdown will impact Survey and Certification activities. Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments surveys, complaint investigations alleging harm, specific federal enforcement actions and revisit surveys with exceptional situations are examples of continued activity. Standard Medicare-funded recertification surveys, initial Medicare certification surveys and more minor complaint surveys are examples of activities that won't be performed during the shutdown.
