Save the Date – Kansas Rural Maternal Health Symposium – March 27

Save the Date (Jan. 16, 2025) – The KU Center for Rural Health is hosting the 2026 Kansas Rural Maternal Health Symposium on March 27 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Salina. The symposium brings together experts to share trends, clinical updates and strategies to improve care. The intended audience includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, social workers and others committed to rural maternal and infant health. Learning objectives for this year's symposium include:

  • Describe current KUMC efforts to promote rural maternal and infant health training among students, residents and rural health care professionals;
  • Explain the implications of increasing BMI for Rural obstetrical care;
  • Identify recent changes in maternity care clinical guidelines and opportunities to improve breastfeeding behaviors; and
  • Evaluate care coordination requirements for recent or evolving clinical guidelines on maternal care and breastfeeding support.
