(June 26, 2026) – The SBIRT.CARE website provides no-cost training in screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment (three continuing education units are available for $15), along with free tools and resources to use and share. SBIRT is an evidence-based approach to discussing substance use with people, including engaging those who use alcohol or other drugs at an increased level of risk in conversations about making a change. New features and enhancements to the website include:
- Revised content to reflect current Moderate Drinking Guidelines;
- Enhanced best practices for person-centered brief intervention;
- Engaging videos with different populations in a variety of settings;
- Improved tools featuring user-friendly, non-stigmatizing language; and
- Updates and an overview video on why you might want to retake the training.
SBIRT.CARE is a collaboration between the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare and the UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies. Funding for the project is provided by the Kansas Fights Addiction Grant Review Board with grant administration support from the Sunflower Foundation: Health Care for Kansas.
