(July 17, 2026) – We are excited to share a new educational flyer, Vapes, Nicotine and Kids: What Every Caregiver Should Know, developed through a collaboration among the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's Community Health Promotion, Kansas Maternal and Child Health and the Kansas Poison Center.
This resource was created to help childcare providers, caregivers and families:
- Recognize common nicotine products that may pose a risk to children.
- Understand how nicotine exposure can occur.
- Learn safe storage and disposal practices.
- Identify the symptoms of nicotine poisoning and know when to contact emergency services.
- Access support resources, including the Kansas Tobacco Quitline.
We encourage you to share this flyer with childcare providers, parents, caregivers and community partners as part of your injury-prevention and child-safety efforts.
The flyer is currently available in English and will soon be available in Spanish. It is posted on the Safe Kids Kansas website in the Poison Prevention section.
Thank you for your continued efforts to promote child safety and prevent unintentional injuries in Kansas communities.
