Mandatory Ambulatory Specialty Model: Jan. 1, 2027
(May 1, 2026) – The Ambulatory Specialty Model is a mandatory Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services payment model that begins Jan. 1, 2027. It is designed to hold outpatient specialists financially accountable for managing chronic conditions such as heart failure and low back pain. The ASM aims to improve prevention, reduce unnecessary procedures and lower costs for Original Medicare beneficiaries. The model will run for five performance years, from Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2031. Fifty-eight physicians in Kansas have been selected to
