(Aug. 28 2026) – The Kansas Internationally Educated Nurse Experience Survey was developed collaboratively by the Kansas Board of Regents, the Kansas Nursing Workforce Center, the Kansas Hospital Association and CareerLadder as a part of the Kansas IEN Stakeholder Work Group. The purpose of the survey is to gather confidential feedback that will help hospitals, nonprofits, and the State of Kansas better support internationally educated nurses as they transition into practice, obtain licensure and build sustainable careers here.
Who should take the survey?
Any nurse who identifies as internationally educated and who:
- Currently works as a registered nurse in Kansas;
- Previously worked as a registered nurse in Kansas; or
- Is currently working toward licensure so they can practice as a registered nurse in Kansas.
The survey covers orientation and onboarding experiences (especially the first 90 days), common challenges (licensing, housing, transportation, communication and community integration, etc.), helpful supports, retention factors and opportunities for improvement. Responses are confidential and will be reported only in aggregate. Participants also have the option to enter a $50 gift card drawing (20 will be awarded) and to indicate interest in a follow-up focus group (via separate, optional forms that keep survey responses anonymous).
