(April 10, 2026) – To enhance resident care, the Kansas Age-Friendly Nursing Workforce Forum has been organized and launched by and for nursing home leaders and nurse educators in partnership with the Kansas Nursing Workforce Center, Kansas 4M Geriatrics Workforce Education Program and Area Health Education Center, University of Kansas Medical Center.
The forum, held virtually via Zoom from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on May 20, will serve as a collaborative learning experience and dialogue between nursing educators and nursing home leaders, focused on strengthening partnerships to increase the number of nursing graduates choosing to work in nursing homes. The target audience for this virtual forum includes administrators and leaders of nursing homes and long-term care facilities, nurse educators, nursing home administrators and deans, as well as directors and faculty of nursing programs at community colleges, colleges and universities.
Forum attendees will learn to describe three core components of an Academic-Practice Partnership model that aligns nursing home practice and nursing education to support an age-friendly workforce, identify two actionable strategies to initiate, strengthen or expand an APP between nursing home and academic partners and develop a draft Communal Agreement outlining roles and processes to guide ongoing academic-practice collaboration.
There is a $5 registration fee for the forum. Nursing continuing education and ACHA-administrative care continuing education credits will be provided. Find more information and
by May 13.
