KDHE Launches Substance Use Disorder Anti-Stigma Campaign

KDHE (June 19, 2026) – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has launched a new statewide media campaign, Be the Spark, focused on reducing stigma surrounding substance use disorder and highlighting that recovery is possible. The campaign features stories of Kansans who have experienced substance use disorder and are in recovery. Through personal testimonials, participants share their challenges, support systems that helped them, and steps they took toward recovery. The stories also explore how perceptions of individuals can change when communities recognize recovery, resilience, and the value of second chances. If your organization would like to help amplify this message, share the campaign materials that can be found here.
