(June 19, 2026) – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has launched a new statewide media campaign, Be the Spark, focused on reducing stigma surrounding substance use disorder and highlighting recovery is possible. The campaign features stories from Kansans who have experienced substance use disorder and are in recovery. Through personal testimonials, participants share their challenges, the support systems that helped them and the steps they took toward recovery. The stories also explore how perceptions of individuals can shift when communities recognize recovery, resilience and the value of second chances. If your organization would like to help amplify this message, share the campaign materials available here.
