(Aug. 29, 2025) – Last week, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced the official end of the measles outbreak in Southwest Kansas. The outbreak, which began in the spring, resulted in 87 total outbreak-associated cases of measles across 12 counties in Southwest and South Central Kansas. KDHE's Kindergarten Immunization Data Dashboard shows the measles mumps rubella immunization rates for Kansas kindergartners decreased from 94.47 percent in the 2019 – 2020 school year to 90.21 percent during the 2023 – 2024 school year.
