(Aug. 14, 2026) – Healthworks, in partnership with the Kansas Health Institute, has released a new set of educational resources to help Kansas hospitals and health systems develop artificial intelligence policies. The release includes the AI Use Policy Template for Hospitals: Core Policy + Modules and an accompanying companion guide.
As hospitals increasingly evaluate and adopt AI technologies, ranging from ambient clinical scribes and predictive clinical alerts to revenue cycle management and administrative generative AI, they face growing operational, ethical, regulatory and technical considerations. The newly released resources provide health care leaders with a structured, adaptable framework for addressing governance, human oversight, data privacy and risk mitigation.
The publicly available, free policy template and companion guide were designed to support diverse hospital needs, including specific considerations for rural and Critical Access Hospitals. Development of the tool was supported by funding from Healthworks.
The AI Use Policy Template for Hospitals, its companion guide and webinars reviewing the materials are available on the Healthworks website.
