(Oct. 3, 2025) – On Sept. 25, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance Section released the
Kansas Health Alert Network to warn about Candida auris cases in Kansas. The alert provides information about current outbreaks and information for Infection Prevention and Control, lab, public health and clinician professionals. KDHE reminds us that "Mandated Reporters, including clinicians, are required by
Kansas Administrative Regulation (K.A.R.) 28-1-2 to report cases of C. auris infection or colonization to KDHE or your local health department within 24 hours or the next business day." Additionally, the
KDHE Disease Reporting for Health Professionals guidance specifies confirmed or suspected C. auris outbreaks must be reported within four hours by phone to the KDHE Epidemiology Hotline at (877) 427-7317, option 5. Please share with your Infection Prevention, laboratory and clinical teams as needed.
