Fire Prevention Code Information Meetings Scheduled

State Fire Marshals Office Logo (April 10, 2026) – The Kansas Office of the State Fire Marshal has gained legislative approval to update the state's fire prevention codes. The current codes have been in effect for twenty years and establish the minimum standards for fire safety in all buildings and places where people live, work or gather for any purpose, in Kansas. Buildings used solely as single-family homes and duplexes are not affected.

The OSFM invites public input to help develop the 2026 Kansas Fire Prevention Codes. They will host informational meetings in communities across the state, starting Tuesday, April 14. Please share this with your facility and survey readiness team members.
