The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued the following updates in the MLN Connects Provider eNews:
CMS Issues Change Request on RHC Telehealth Billing and Reimbursement
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued a change request instructing the Medicare Administrative Contractors to revise how rural health clinics bill for and are reimbursed for distant-site telehealth services. Effective Thursday, Oct. 1, RHCs will be required to bill individual HCPCS codes specific to telehealth services provided to patients. RHCs will continue to be required to report modifier 93 for audio-only services and modifier 95 for audiovisual telehealth services. CMS provided a listing of the current telehealth HCPCS codes.
