News (Oct. 17, 2025) – CDC Offers Training Resources for Addressing Substance Use Among Adolescents
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention created new training resources to help clinicians effectively address substance use among adolescents. After completing the training modules, clinicians can earn free continuing education credits through CDC TRAIN.

The Addressing Adolescent Substance Use training module employs a patient case model to teach how to identify, evaluate and manage substance use in adolescents. Key topics include screening, brief interventions, risk factor assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, communicating with families and follow-up care.

The Addressing Adolescent Substance Use clinician pathway tool is designed to help guide clinical decision-making for adolescent patients from screening through diagnosis and treatment considerations.
