(July 25, 2025) – CMS: 2.8 Million Potentially Enrolled in Multiple Medicaid, Marketplace Plans
Because of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' effort to stop waste, fraud and abuse, a recent analysis of enrollment data identified 2.8 million Americans who either enrolled in Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program in multiple states or simultaneously enrolled in both Medicaid/CHIP and a subsidized Marketplace plan.
CMS will now take action to ensure these individuals are enrolled in only one program, preventing them from receiving multiple subsidies for health coverage.
