(July 17, 2026) – An email with a link to a Kansas Hospital Association survey on the use of unlicensed personnel to perform radiologic technology procedures was sent to CEOs and CNO/DONs on Monday, July 6. KHA has received responses from a majority of our members, and we thank you. For those who have not yet completed the survey, it closes at the end of the day on Monday, July 20.
During the past 12 months, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts have reviewed survey information and complaints about the use of unlicensed personnel to perform radiologic technology procedures in Kansas health care facilities and related outcomes. As a result of this review, KDHE and KSBHA held a stakeholder meeting in mid-June to gather feedback and discuss any potentially needed changes to the exemption from licensure for the performance of radiologic procedures, as outlined in K.S.A. 65-7304.
KHA requests that one person from each member hospital complete the KHA survey to assist us in our understanding of the extent of this practice. It will assist us in our advocacy efforts if KDHE and KSBHA were to make changes to this practice. Individual responses will be kept confidential.
