(Jan. 12, 2026) – Today is the first day of what is anticipated to be a quick 90-day state legislative session. With legislative committees undertaking more interim work than in previous sessions, the legislature has a head start on building its budget compared with last year's session. The governor's budget is expected to be released following the State of the State Address, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
Today, the House and Senate met briefly in the afternoon, and committee meetings will be scheduled as early as tomorrow.
