Senate Ways and Means Human Services Subcommittee Works KDHE Budget Without Additions
(Jan. 23, 2026) - Today, the Senate Ways and Means Human Services Subcommittee met to hear public requests to adjust the budget of the Division of Health within the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Among many stakeholders, KHA staff and hospitals emphasized the need to continue the behavioral health bed add-on payments to ensure those services remain available. The committee held off on any enhancement requests made of them and passed out all agency budgets with the reappropriations, incorporating a handful of agency enhancement reductions, and said all additional requests will be considered by the full Ways and Means Committee as they assemble the budget ahead of February 5.
